Cayos Cochinos

Friday morning Elizabeth and I were picked up from our hotel to go snorkeling on the Cayos Cochinos (Hog Cays). The Bay Islands are more famous, but also much further away and much more expensive, and we can´t scuba dive anyway, so the Cayos were just right for us. Christie, however, gets seasick--not on the boat ride there, but once she´s floating on the water! She went back to the Jungle Lodge and went hiking through Pico Bonito up to a waterfall.

Eli and I rode on one choppy ride to the archipelago. It is amazingly beautiful, with those typical blue-green Carribean colors of water and incredible corals and fish. We hiked a bit and saw all sorts of creatures and bugs, then spent an hour or so snorkeling. It was really impressive, but eventually we moved on to another island. On the second island we ate lunch and relaxed awhile before snorkeling again. This time, however, there were incredible strong currents that made it hard not to drift out to sea or crash into the many tall mountains of coral we found ourselves in. After a very difficult swim back in, we made it to shore to bask in the sun a few moments.

We had to leave soon, though, because the sea was getting fea, or ugly. The way beack we went with the wind, only meaning that we had to ride the waves or they would crash over us from behind. Never in my life have I been so close to such huge waves, really terrified at some point that we were going to capsize! The best part is that it was still gloriously sunny, though the mist and splashes of the waves soaked us and chilled us to the bone.

Back in La Ceiba, we met up with Christie and decided to stay one more night before heading south. Bedtime, amazinly enough, was even earlier than the previous night´s 8:30 p.m. because we were planning on just napping and going out dancing. Yeah, right. But by going to bed at 7:30 p.m. we had no trouble catching the 5 a.m. bus out of town!

Goodness, girl! Are you trying to give your parents a heart attack? I think you should live a little less dangerously for the rest of your trip. I really love hearing the details, but do try to make them tamer, please. con mucho amor, so padres

I always wonder what three things guide you in your travels and missions. Here are some three things, which I found worthwhile and I thought I share with you.

Three Things
Three things in life that, once gone, never come back -

Time

Words

Opportunity

Three things in life that may never be lost -

Peace

Hope

Honesty

Three things in life that are most valuable -

Love

Self-confidence

Friends

Three things in life that are never certain -

Dreams

Success

Fortune

Three things that make a man/woman -

Hard work

Sincerity

Commitment

Three things in life that can destroy a man/woman -

Alcohol

Pride

Anger

Three things in life that, once lost, hard to build-up -

Respect

Trust

Friendship

Three things in life that never fail -

True Love

Determination

Belief

P.-----pray
U.----until
S.----something
H.----happens

When there is nothing left but God, that is when you find out that God is all you need.

God,
God bless all my friends in whatever it is that You know they may be needing this day! And may their life be full of your peace, prosperity and power as she seeks to have a closer relationship with you and all the people in her care. Amen.

Then send it on to five other people, including the one who sent it to you. Within hours you caused a multitude of people to pray for other people. Then sit back and watch the power of God work in your life.

So you want the stories to be tamer, eh mom? I guess I can do that, but that doesn´t mean the adventures will be any tamer! Naw, now that I´m with Ana and her family (including her 4 year old daughter), we won´t be living on the wild side too much.

The only way the details can be tamer is if you have tamer adventures. Your adventures do improve my prayer life, however. Love you, mom

I love the scene with the tree. Might have to add it to my church photos.
