100 pionts to whomever figures it out. The answer in about a week.
Thanks to all who offered guesses and practiced a bit of creativity, but the correct answer is: to keep the dog from peeing on (and rusting through) the rims. Quique's bike is a rusty mess, but apparently dogs need to be up close and comfortable to leave their mark. Thus the poles, providing neverending frustration to (and protection from ) Tofi (the dog)!!!

What will 100 points get me? Mom
To keep creepy men away from you?
Talk about creepy! Renae was trying on wedding dresses today (yeah, you're going to miss her wedding on the 1st of Aug.) and this guy was sitting there waiting for his wife (who was a mother of a bride) and kept asking us annoying personal questions and staring at us. It was so noticeable and creepy that the shop attendant suggested that Renae needed help getting the dresses on and wildly whispered to us as she shoved me in the room with her!
P.S. I miss you.
To kill the attacking squirrels?
Ooo! It's like training wheels for those who are imbalanced!
Are they only on the left side, and do they move?
A kickstand.
Really lame streamers?
I've got it! They're like the wooden poles on the ark of the covenant. So when you're feeling royal, you can have four attendants carry you above their shoulders, marching through the streets shouting your name, commanding others to marvel at your blond hair and blue eyes and worship your adoring qualities!
A week!? You're really going to make me wait a week!?!
100 points will get you the envy of all those who read this blog! As for the many creative guesses, keep guessing! Yes, they are only on the left side and I only put them up once I´ve parkd the bike against the side of the car. Think more function, less fashion.
I know I know!!
To keep it from falling onto the car and scratching it?
To keep it from falling and then being run over by the car?
What's that third peg thing in the middle?
Is that coming from the car?
Do you only use them when parking it at home?
Do you/can you carry them with you wherever you go?
Why am I the only one participating in this silly game?
Is that car even driven? It doesn't have a driver's mirror!
I think it is used to keep the bike snug to the car so it doesn't bang into the car and scratch it. Am I close? Mom
The supports keep the bike in a straight vertical position so the tires don't get deformed from heat or something.???
Well, I'll be a non-dog owner. Oh, I am a non-dog owner. I never would have guessed!
